Still there...
Today was a gorgeous day, not too hot, not humid, just windy enough... we decided to brunch on our deck. Ahh the joy of summer!
WRONG!
We barely had time to eat that we got a little wift of Pierrefonds. Since it was windy we figured the winds would turn or something and take those smells with them.
WRONG AGAIN!!
We went back inside! Hubby was a little pissed off, moaning about how ridiculous the situation was... Later on in the afternoon I thought I'd sit our to read for a while, nope, stank too much. Came back in. Then came dinner time, Hubby offered to eat outside whiel the weather is still nice, he barely opened the patio door, sticked his head out and slammed the door shut!
It stank AGAIN!!!
I have a feeling that he will soon be very nasty with the City officials, he's brewing, and that's not a real good sign for whomever is on the receiving end of that brew...
Better them then me! But when he'll have reached his treashold Pierrefonds' officials will truly know the meaning of Stink, trust me on that!
Keep an eye out for some stank, and it will come from Pierrefonds!

We have a giant landfill in our town as well. I think Chicago considers us it's personal dump. The landfill is out by the highway and greets visitors with a lovely stench, junk floating around the ditches, and convoys of garbage trucks that are heading here from Chicago (about 100 miles north of us). It sux!
Even though we (the town) have all this money (supposedly) from renting out our land to let Chicago dump their garbage here, we still have tax increases and each year our schools lose programs that I think are valuable (art, music, home ec, shop class, and most of the girl's sports) Bastards.

kim: Welcome to my world - it does keep me busy, by I mostly post on Stories-2-Tell, that's really more my blog! This one is more my husband's... Thanks for the comment!
The autorities say that they are doing something, but the smell is still here... some nights worst than others!
Last year, even frozen solid, it stank, so we're not holding our breathes (or maybe we should!?)
p d: Welcome! There's nothing worst than to be greeted by stench, isn't it? True politicians at their best - screwing everything they can! 'Gotta love them!

whatever happened there finally ?
hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is not only unpleasant to smell, it is also flammable and
extremely toxic in high concentrations (similar to hydrogen cyanide). even in small amounts, over time it certainly can't be good for you.
